Powt has shown work, and I know Sharq is a capable mapper.

And we should start the map after we have a full-fledged backstory, so the map intertwine's with the backstory.

my idea is is have a tunnel connecting the two servers like running a lua script also we need a system you have your same stats on no.1 as on no.2

Or just both, together make one big map? Players with slow computers like someone I know takes around 20 minutes to load, an unless you hook the SQLite stuff in the script into MySQL, there's not another way to keep the character with all the same posessions. And what would happen to equipped items? They would dissapear. You got to think about this before you do anything. I also see that Kiley wants me out of the group. ._.

    Actually, I like that idea.

One server can be one side of the city, the other can be the other side. This way your characters can have different interactions. Kiley's map can run on her server, while Powt's can run on mine. Actually not a bad idea.

Positive me: One side could be a city, and one a country map with a few towns, military facilities etc

Negative me: TWo servers'll decrease the amount of people playing on the city server and vice-versa.
This could be either good or bad.

Well we could use a teleport when going into buildings or the subway so you can freely make the inside of the buildings as big as you want. Also the split of the servers could allow a big war style gameplay. Like super mutants in the city vs BoS in the country.

Don't worry, there shall be no RDMing, I will make sure of that. Dming will result at first an hour ban, then a perma.

This sounds great, but there are a few horrible downfalls to having two separate servers that are connected:

    1) If one server is full, everyone on the other server is stuck there.

    2) If one server crashes, people in the other server are stuck there.

    3) The script has to be configured and limited to only run on those two specific servers.

In my opinion, if we want to make the script run on multiple servers, we need it to be able to run on n number of servers, and simply have teleporting entities (not hard-placed in the map) that are coded into the script, that take you to other servers with other maps.

This would be pretty amazing, but would be WAY later.

    Adding to this:
    - Chat that works between servers
    - Scoreboard that works between servers
    - AI Director that works globally between servers
    - Admin suite that works globally between servers

    Cheers,
    Tyler

We're not going to make them "connected" as was stated before. We just plan on having to different servers with the different sides of the city. We may not even do that because it takes away a number of players from one server. We want one with a bulk load of people, so this probably won't happen.

Maybe once we get alot of people, but not until then.

This "two connected servers" doesn't really sound like the greatest of idea to me. Of course it has it's own very good advantages and such, BUT the population would severely split up. There'd be around 1-5 people on one server at a time. So, if the maps are like, huge, it will feel literally like a wasteland, and there's not much to RP.

I kinda like that "enter a building and WHOOPZA get teleported" idea. It'd really allow making the buildings about as big as you ever want to. Of course you'd have to know the limits. If there's a small abandoned shack, it can't really fit a Super-Duper Mart inside of it...

If it's possible, you two could make a "Zonius Gigantormus" (A.K.A. a hugeass map) and put a small city/town innit, a vault or something, ruined buildings and stuff and a good spot of Wasteland around all this. And, don't make too stupid decisions, as in, if it's a small town, I don't think it has skyscrapers and all that real fancy stuff.

Oh and, while you're making the map(s), PLEASE leave the stupid invisible walls out. For example, if there's a not-nuked-to-shit road out there that leads to somewhere and you try walking along it, you bumb into an invisible wall. That really breaks the immersion, so at least try to put a good reason for a "stop" in there.

The other thing is, that you could try to not make the places too much of a clusterfuck.

The third thing is, that make the borders at least somewhat wisely. For example, gm_atomic is a great one.

    -Cap'n' out.

I liked the "Invisible Wall" you speak of, Moot. It added Depth to Gm_Atomic, that's why I love that map. And besides, people don't really tend to stay on the edges of maps (Or at least on Gm_Atomic...).

    The Second Thing: No promises

The Third Thing: Explain s'more. I don't quite get what you mean by that.

The borders, where the map ends. Gm_atomic's borders were placed quite reasonably. Yes, the invisible walls. They didn't really seem stupid.

I'd prefer if one server was the city and the other general wastelands.
On the other hand, it would best to start with just 1 server to build up a proper population and the expand the server list as the community's population rises.
